I love being a Purex Insider and being able to share all the great products and contests with my readers. Today I would like to share with you my thoughts on 20 Mule Team Borax Laundry Booster.
I am going to assume many of you haven’t heard of Borax before, and are saying “OK, Deb! What is Borax?” Well 20 Mule Team “Borax” is 100% natural mineral from earth. Borax is a common name for sodium tetraborate, which is a naturally occurring substance produced by perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes. Once it’s removed from the ground it is washed, dried and boxed for consumers. Borax is as natural as it gets, nothing is added. No phosphates, chlorine, or other additive chemicals.
Now you’re probably wondering…. “Sounds great Deb, but how will this Borax help me?” You might have noticed I mentioned “detergent booster” above. Basically Borax is a just that it helps get your laundry cleaner without all the harsh chemicals that other products have. Let me break this down a little further. Have you heard of ‘hard water’? Well hard water on average can be found in about 85% of homes, and it’s water that contains calcium and magnesium. (ions) Hard water affect laundry because when you add detergent to hard water some of it’s compounds attaches itself to the calcium and magnesium and sink to the bottom of your wash, which eventually find their way down the drain and never actually help clean your clothes. In the long run it’s basically a waste of laundry detergent. By adding a 1/2 of Borax to each load of wash you are helping to soften the water to improve your detergents cleaning power. Borax also helps to keep stains from being re-deposited back onto your clothes.
So there you have it, my low down on what Borax is and how it can help your laundry. I am also please to announce that I have 3 – coupons for 1 box of 20 Mule Team Borax that I am giving away. 3 lucky readers will have a chance to test Borax in their own homes. I have heard “hard water” numerous times, but never really knew the real meaning behind it until I reviewed Borax.
