#Blogathon2 Kick Off

I love finding great blogging events and challenges that are helpful in becoming a better blogger. I came across the Blogathon bash through Create with Joy, an inspiring blogger I have been following for about a year now and decided to join in. I am glad I did because there are some great mini challenges and wonderful helpful articles. Oh, did I mention that there are prizes to be won too? The bash runs from the 25th- 28th of Jan.

I have taken part in three of the mini challenges, and have picked up a lot of great tips to help become a better blogger. One of the challenges I read and took part in was Give to Get @ Holy Splendor, where she teaches that giving something will actually results in you getting in return. The article talks about how offering a “freebie” to anyone that signs up to your newsletter will help you gain readers. It goes more in depth about other ways to use this “give to get” conception for your blog. Be sure to stop by and read more about her helpful article.

There was another challenge How to Back Up Your Blog @ Geek With Style, I loved this challenge because she gave me an easy way to back up my blog. I will admit that I haven’t always been the “backup type blogger” I was a bit naive into thinking that my host would always have a copy of my files available to me. Well I learnt that lesson the hard way! If you unintentionally break one of your hosts TOS rules they have the right to remove your files from their server. It happened to me once. Long story short I installed a plugin which started adding extra load on the server, my host decided to shut my site down. I was fortunate enough that they allowed me to fix the issue and they restored my site. But if they hadn’t given me the opportunity to make it right I would have been “up the creek without a paddle” because I hadn’t done a backup of my blog in almost 6 months. Imagine all the hard work that would have been out the door with the mop water if they hadn’t worked with me.  Anyways since that day I’ve done a backup at least once a month, but Geek With Style’s article made it easier and the selling point for me is that it’s something I can schedule and forget about. 🙂 This is one article you won’t want to miss, head over and read it now.

Another article I am in the process of reading is Google+ (Google Plus) Guide for Bloggers @ Biannual Blogathon Bash. Now I not a beginner with Google+ but I know that there is alot more to it then what I’ve been using it for. This article/challenge is going to teach me more about how Google+ can help me as a blogger. So I am looking forward to reading and completing the challenge later this afternoon. If you’d like to understand how Google+ works then stop by Biannual Blogathon Bash to read her guide, oh while you’re there let her know I sent you : )

It’s not to late to Join in on the Winter #Blogathon Bash, and it’s also a great place to find many helpful articles like the ones I’ve mentioned above.

Do you have any blogging goals you’d like to accomplish? I’d love to hear them in the comments below. Did you join the #Blogathon2 Bash? If you joined in what challenges did you take?
