October is National Fire Safety Month, and many schools and businesses use the week of Oct 7th – 13th to remind us how dangerous fires can be. It was always a blessing when the kiddies would bring home their fire safety projects from school, they were my reminder that I needed to check our fire safety equipment.
We all lead busy lives and often forget about checking our fire extinguishers, smoke detectors etc. The upcoming months are even more dangerous, it’s when the heaters are dragged out, fire places are lite, and candles are used for all our holiday celebrations. Use this as a reminder to check those smoke detector batteries, make sure your extinguisher is in working order and check your heater cords for frays etc.
Now that I’ve reminded everyone about Fire Safety month and to check your fire equipment, I’d like to tell you about a great new alternative to traditional candles. As most of you already know I am a candle lover and have them all over our house. We recently got a new kitten “Snowball” he’s a mischievous little guy that has no fear, and loves to climb on our sofa table. As we were watching a movie the other night he decided to crawl along the back of our sofa and lunge for the candles I have on the table. I got to thinking that maybe it was time to put flameless candles on that table. (at least until he’s fully trained) I haven’t been keen on buying battery operated candles, as I haven’t been able to find scented ones that actually keep their scent. There had to be a safe alternative that would still allow me to enjoy the scents too.
I finally found a great way to enjoy my candles safely, with products from Candle Warmers Etc. They have warming plates, lamps, lanterns and more. I was sent one of their candle warming lamps, and a beautifully scented candle for my review.
The warmer uses a bulb to warm the candle, which gives off a warm, soft glow just like a candle does! I also noticed that the lantern, doesn’t get excessively hot and can be touched even after hours of use. I love the idea of candle warmers. I have a 2 year old…need I say more! But this post reminds me, I still need to get a fire ladder for my bedroom just in case!!!! And I love the lantern. It would fit right in at our house! We have a lake, cabiny thing going in our living room.
