Putting yourself first is the least selfish thing you can do by Dustin Maher.
Regardless how many times we say it, see it and want to believe it as a mom it’s almost impossible to put ourselves first. The times I have gotten a little something for myself I did feel guilty and selfish. But there are things we can do for ourselves that will later benefit our family. Like being fit, and living healthy . . . the hardest part I think is knowing where to begin and having some sort of guideline.
When I was contacted by a representative for Dustin Maher the author of Fit Moms for Life, I was excited they wanted me to review the book. It seemed fitting since I am on a track to a Healthier, Skinnier Me.
Fit Moms for Life is filled with success stories from 31 women like me, there are chapters on how to burn fat without cardio, an eating plan and recipes for balanced meals, exercises that can shrink your waistline (without diet changes), and a training program that burns fat while you sleep. I know sounds to good to be true huh? Well like I said there are 31 success stories throughout the book, from women like you and I.
One of my favorite chapters of the book is Chapter 2 – Change Your Mind, Change Your Body. Mindset matters so much when you’re trying to make changes in your life, not only for health, weight etc. but for any changes you want to make. I’ve always felt that with the right mindset (attitude) you can be, do and achieve anything your heart desires. The chapter talks about having the right mindset, wanting something and making the change, along with creating a vision for yourself for the future. It’s just a very positive chapter and helpful for those of us that need the extra encouragement.
Another one of the things I tend to wonder about while exercising is “am I doing the right one for the right body part?” Hiring a personal trainer isn’t anywhere near fitting into the budget and to be honest I’d feel completely selfish if I did. After reading the book I now know more about what certain exercises do. Dustin explains different exercises that you can do to get the results you want in Chapters 7 – 9.
This is one of those “go to books” when I have a question about an exercise, or looking for a healthy recipe I’ll grab the book and check for the answers there. I am really glad I was given the opportunity to review this book, it’s filled with great articles that I’ll be using throughout my Healthier, Skinnier Me journey.
Dustin would love for one lucky Scattered Musings reader to own a copy of his book Fit Moms for Life. So without further ado let’s get this giveaway started!!
