Losing weight… Healthier, Skinnier Me!!
I go through spurts of being completely content and happy, then I’ll wake up one day and decide I need a change. Nothing ever to extreme, more like a mini makeover for me which often involves, eating habits, weight issues, working out, a change for me to make me feel better. A Healthier, Skinnier Me is on the way!!
With that being said let me tell you what started this whole thing, a gym membership which has been paid for every month for almost a year and it hasn’t been used nearly as much as it should be used. It’s a great gym, and when we first got our membership we went 4 times a week, then someone got sick, worked late, was to tired etc. I am sure you know how that story goes, and eventually we stopped going. Last summer I was a bikini wearing in decent shape woman, if I were to go to the beach today I’d wear a one piece and a cover up. (Really!!) I’ve completely let myself go and it’s time to take control again.
I wanted to start June 1st. but you all know how that goes!! One thing lead to another and it got pushed back. Well determination is my middle name, and once this woman gets determined to do something… Well watch out world.
It’s healthier eating and working out daily and sticking to it!! I’ve also signed up to My Fitness Pal and joined a summer challenge. My current weight … (cough cough.. 185 lbs) *lowers her head in shame and cries* Really how did this happen? Why hasn’t the people in my life mentioned that I’ve gained weight? In all honesty I wear the weight well and don’t look 185 lbs. (recent photo here) I know that muscle weights more than fat and I have some muscle tone… but.. well for my height and age I should be at the max 128lbs. So that’s my goal!! I want to lose 60lbs and I am determined to get it done.
As I mentioned before I joined a summer challenge that started June 10th and runs until the end of August. I am using the challenge as a means of motivation, and it gives me some sort of accountability. Getting to my goal weight during the 11 week challenge probably isn’t doable as that would be 5.4 lbs a week. (hmm thinks to herself) Sounds good but I am not going to set to high of goals and then be discouraged because I didn’t achieve them. My weight today is 185lbs my next weight in is Saturday June 16th. (they started the 10th, I am starting the 12th) I will still weight in on the 16th, so I can keep on track with the challenge. (I don’t think 2 days will make that much of a difference)

Superb blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
I had been exercising last year and after 8 months did not see an improvement and got discouraged and just quit. After that I just didn’t care any more. I am like you and just wake up one day and say OK time to get this thing going! I have a program coming up in about a week that I will be joining for exercise and hope that it is a kickstart back to my health!
Tina, you’re like me I need results to know that my efforts are working. Good Luck with your up coming program!!
Good luck to you! I hate dieting so I try to generally eat healthy. Lots of fruits and veggies. That’s my one rule – I never limit fruits or veggies. Not that I eat a ton, but it’s nice to give an option where you can just eat if you want to. It works pretty well for me!
That’s what I’ve been trying to do, when I need a sweet I grab a fruit. Crunchy I grab carrots. I am still working on the salty thou.
wishing you all the best on your journey!
Renee, thanks so much !!
It sounds like you have wonderful goals!

Kristen, Thank you!!
I am starting a new way-of-eating, too. Right now I am trying to give up soda. I know I need to do it, but many I am so used to it!
It’s hard when you’ve become depended on things to give them up. I never had a soda problem, I am a stress eater.
I am really trying to get in the habit of eating and cooking healthier meals. Thanks for the inspiration!
You’re very welcome and thank you too!
Hey good luck with everything. Just remember to always make that time for yourself and do not get hung up on set backs. Look at them as learning experiences. I will be cheering for ya!
Clancy, thank you so much. I am trying!! I get frustrated with it sometimes. But keep pushing forward
Good luck
Thank you

Hi gal! I just wanted to tell you that I sell Avon (if you didn’t know) and could send you a sample of one of their skin care product if you could do a REVIEW for me? Just contact me (and this is for YOU ONLY) because I can’t afford to buy anymore of them at this time. I’m from the Karma group and will post my email there for you to contact me. I want to celebrate your healthy new you happening!! Yay you!
Carolyn, thanks for stopping by lovely. I love love your idea!! Can’t wait thank you for thinking of me.
I would love to eat more healthy foods. Real Simple in the feb. 11 issue has a list of the 30 nutritional powerhouses. I would love to eat them more, but with picky little kids I’d be making three meals – one for me and the hubs, one for my pretty good eater and a third for my super picky daughter. Can’t do it. So we eat moderately healthy, but not as much as I’d like. Sigh. It’s not so much my weight – it’s reducing the carbs and wine
, and of course exercising something more than my fingers. Blogging. yeah.
Definitely harder when you have little ones to eat healthy icky veggies (at least that is how much little ones think) I find it hard with the hub’s too, he loves his meat and potatoes.
