Planting a Garden?

This post brought to you by Whitney Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

A girlfriend and I were talking the other day, about how both of us were thinking of starting a garden. Neither of us have a green thumb, but wanted to give our best shot at it anyway. We love to cook and use fresh herbs, but we were buying them. It would be more fulfilling if we grew our own.

As I said neither one of us have a green thumb, but we had our mindset on planting a strictly organic garden. Start with something small, then build on to it is what we have in mind. My small ideal garden would look like one of these.

How Does Your Garden Grow? Well it’s not growing yet, but were on the right track.

We know what we want, and how we want to grow it. Our next stage was finding the right soil, and plant food. I had to run some errands today, so I stopped in my local home and garden store. I had one brand in mind, but didn’t know if The Scotts Miracle Grow Company, had a line of organic products. They do it’s Whitney Farms® and the best part was that they make organic soil and organic plant food, how convenient was that? Organic soil and plant food both made from the same company! I bought a couple of each and texted my friend telling her the good news! We had our organic soil and food, so we could check that off our list.

I’ve read great things about the soil and plant food, I like how many have said that the soil doesn’t stink. (major gardening turn-off  that icky manure smelling) and it’s made from kelp and alpha meal. Oh, another good thing is that the soil actually feeds your plants for up to two months. (an advantage to new gardeners!)

Looks like we’ll be starting our gardens soon, I’ll be sure to share some pictures of us, getting dirty while planting our organic herbal gardens!

Thanks for rescuing us

Starting a garden sounds like a wonderful idea…I’ve entertained those thoughts as well recently. Scotts commercials which are aired regularly and are so funny probably had a part in those thoughts. What did you plant and when are the veggies coming? Looking forward to future garden pics!! Take care :)

I haven’t started mine, but I want to do an organic garden this year. We did a small garden last year for the boys, we didn’t use ANYTHING except soil and it turned out great! We have more room this year though so I have to figure out what to do

    • Deborah says:

Nichole, I haven’t started mine either. One thing leads to another and gardening is pushed to the back burner.
      Thanks for stopping by.

I just bought some annuals today and I’m ready for planting veggies!! So excited!! This looks like it would be a great product for both!

    • Deborah says:

Mimi, sounds like fun. I should get some seasonal flowers and plant them.
It’s a great product and I would recommend it.

  5. I’d love to see your garden from start to finish! Please be sure to share your journey, as I am a fellow blogger with a very BROWN thumb. I’d love to grow my own herbs and vegetables, but don’t have the slightest bit of knowledge to begin.

    • Deborah says:

Melissa, promise when I get it started I’ll do pictures and my thoughts.

I definitely need to invest in this for my own poor plants!

    • Deborah says:

K.W, thanks for stopping by. I need to actually put some in one of my house plants. I think it would help it alot.

    Hello.
I’m afraid I’m not the slightest bit “green-fingered”. My talents lie in poetry writing. Give me a pen and paper and voila…magic happens (smile). We do use a lot of fresh herbs at home though and I like the garden on the left. Hope you get yours going. Thanks for sharing.

I’m hosting Blog Hop Saturday! this Saturday May 5th from 8:00am-8:00pm EST. Hope you can join me!

    • Deborah says:

Andy, I also don’t have a green thumb. I think that’s one of my biggest fears of starting a garden.
I love your poetry. Thanks for stopping in.

Teressa, I am not sure it didn’t say what was planted in it. But that’s a great idea thou!!
