Dining Room Make Over

Yep! I have the bug again. No not the flu bug or a stomach bug. But I have the need a new look bug. Not a make over for me, (although I could use it) but a dining room make over. We bought a heavy oak (light-colored) dining room and china hutch in 2004. I think after almost 8 years it’s finally in the need of new upholstery on the chairs. I didn’t want to do it before because we had young children in the house. Well now with the youngest being 12 and my grand babies being in AZ, I think it’s safe to redo. I’d also love to refinish it do a darker color and distress it.

OK let me explain my kitchen, we have a cream-colored ceramic tile floor. Light oak cabinets and breakfast nook/bar. This past year we went out and got all new appliances, black and chrome/silver. Finally completing our collection this past weekend with new spice rack and an awesome toaster oven. I would now like to modernize the hutch and dining room table. I’ve thought of a couple of ideas and I absolutely love what Kristi and Kelli did to a hutch on their site Lolly Jane Boutique (as seen in image to the right)

My dream Dining Room Maker Over
would be the turquoise color.

I think it would look great with our appliances and will tie in the creams. But I can see the hubs now, HA!! Yes I see his face and hear his “No” as clear as day.

Soooo I am going to try to get away with the black (image to the left) I love both looks, so either way I’ll be happy.

I’ve also picked out a few fabrics I’d like to use on the chairs and window treatments.  Of course I choose ones that would work with either the black or turquoise hutch. One way or another I’ll use some of the turquoise in my make over for my dining room.

Do you have any make overs for your house in mind? What do you do when you want one color/design and the hubs wants another color/design? HA!! Comprise right :)

We did a huge makeover of our home 4 years ago – it was exciting but tedious because of contractor/labor problems. But well worth it. I love turquoise.
I see that your blog got a make over too – it looks real cool now, Deb ?

Corinne, thankfully we don’t/aren’t going to do any major remodeling.
It’s more of a beautify project for me, unless of course the hubs decides he wants to replace cabinets etc.
I love that look… I haven’t done much making over on my blog since the beginning of the year, besides changing out the header.

      Thanks for stopping by :)
