October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as a long time supporter I try to do my part (as small as it may be). to show my support. I know times are tough and it’s hard for many of us to spend “any” amount of money and often may feel guilty for not being able to help. But there are many ways to help/support without putting yourself in a hardship, below are some of the ways that you can help.
During October many of our everyday food companies show their support with a little pink ribbons on their products, and send part of the monies to Breast Cancer Awareness Foundations. I try to buy everything (that I need) from those companies. Mentioning a few that I remember from last year, Dannon Yogurt, M&M’s, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Panera Bread did pink ribbon bagels, Mott’s Applesauce, Hersey Bliss, Orbit Gum, Triscuit, Cheerios, Hamburger Helper and there are many others. Throughout the month of October, I will share some of my findings at the supermarket with you here. I think many people are “iffy” about donating to some of the organizations out there, this is an easy way to show your support and give by buying these everyday foods you may already eat.
This year I am also taking part in The Big Pink Ribbon event, which will be the largest human (5,000 person) awareness ribbon ever in the world, it will be held locally and will help bring global awareness to Breast Cancer, and raise funds for local programs and Breast Cancer Research. Supposedly it will break a Guinness World Record. The event isn’t costly (registration fees 10-15$) and I feel that it will pull in a lot of local people. In tough times that many are living in today, events like this are ideal for those that want to show/give to a great cause at a minimal cost. Please click the link above to read more about this.

I would also like to introduce an awesome writer Jen from For Jen’s Sake, she has a challenged for us all on Facebook. Please click on the links to visit her site to read more about her story, challenge and a contest. She also has an official PINKTOBER button on her sidebar that you can grab and show your support.

Another easy way to show your support and give a deserving woman a mammogram, is through The Pink Ribbon Challenge. It’s as easy as a click of your mouse and each time you click the Pink Ribbon Button you’re helping women world-wide receive a life saving mammogram. A great part of this is that you can click The Pink Ribbon button daily throughout the month of October.
I’ve set up a “Pass The Pink Ribbon” linky and invite everyone that is supporting Breast Cancer to share their link below. Don’t forget to Click the Pink Ribbon before leaving.
Thank you everyone
Working together we can spread the awareness, and help in find a cure

Excellent post, Deb. Thank you for pointing out the many ways we can show support. I am due for my mammogram and I’m not putting it off any longer!
Jen, it’s sad that there are so many “jump on the band wagon” products that use the BC logo to earn a buck. I to check to verify that they are actually supporting and aren’t just a part of the band wagon group.
I did the same I am a sucker for pink, so when ever I see something (even prior to BC hitting home) I’d buy household goodies.
Thanks for stopping by… I’ll keep sending folks over to you as well…

This is beautiful Deborah. I clicked the link and I will make sure to tell all my readers about it as well. Thank you for being a part of the BCA movement again this year and thank you so very much for the mention. I too buy things that have the breast cancer ribbon on it, I inspect it thoroughly to make sure they donate and aren’t just using it as a way to sell items. When my sister passed away I was walking in the cleaning supplies aisle and a pair of Playtex plastic cleaning gloves caught my eye, I bought two pairs. The year before, before we ever had someone who had BC in the family I bought a BC planner and pens. I may not be able to send in loads of money yet but, I definitely do my part.
